Bill Hoyt, born on the 22nd of July 1938, passed away peacefully at home on the 23rd of July 2025, at the age of 87. A proud Navy veteran, Bill served his country with unwavering dedication. After his military service, he devoted his career to law enforcement, first as a Highway Patrol Officer and later as a Game Warden, retiring with a respected legacy of protecting both the public and the environment.
As a long serving member of the Spooner Honor Guard, Bill participated in the burial services of over 1,000 fellow veterans, honoring their sacrifices with dignity and respect. His passion for community extended to his role as a high school sports umpire, where his fairness and enthusiasm left a lasting impact.
Of all of Bill's accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Lynda, his son, Patrick (Mary), and his daughter, Brenda (Steve). Granddaughter Heather and grandson Zachary (whose wedding Bill officiated). Great-grandchildren Audrey, Davis, Hunter and Lincoln. Bill shared his passion for hunting, fishing, and trapping with his family and with his Balta North Dakota Club friends.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and service that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his brother.
A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, N4063 Veterans Way, Spooner, WI.
