William "Bill" Anderson, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Dove Healthcare - West. He was born April 10, 1937, in Eau Claire to the late William C. and Clara (Stein) Anderson.
Bill was a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School in 1955. He moved to Minneapolis and attended the Dunwoody Institute, studying Construction, Drafting and Estimating. Within a few short years, he started his Architectural degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
From his first marriage, Bill was the proud father of three children: Betsy, Bill, and Anne Marie. In 1972 he started his own Architectural firm, The Design Partnership in Minneapolis; his brother Darrell Anderson joined the firm soon after. Bill opened a branch office of TDP in Eau Claire, reunited with and married Susie Cramer in 1993. Together Bill and Susie shared many happy years filled with travel and cherished time with family.
Bill had a deep appreciation for community and connection. He carried his childhood passions of baseball and trains into adult life through coaching and playing, and collecting and building model trains. His love of trains led him to become a business partner in a local train store. One of his greatest joys was playing fastpitch softball alongside son Bill and close friends. He was a devoted member of his church community of First Lutheran Church and, more recently, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, both in Eau Claire.
He is survived by his children: Betsy Anderson, Bill (Lisa) Anderson, and Anne Marie (Edward) Kersten; his stepchildren: Amy (Jim) Calverley and Tom Stelter; his grandchildren: Will Anderson, Curtis Hill, Samantha Kersten, and Madeline Kersten; four step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Darrell (Jeanne) Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie; his parents; his sister, Una Swanson; and his stepson, Rob Stelter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall Street in Eau Claire, with Pastor Tim Heupel and Pastor Jeff Carlson officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
