Thomas Robert Short

Thomas Robert Short (Boogy), 75 of Eau Claire, WI passed away March 13, 2026, at Hillview Care Center at the Oaks Memory Care Unit, La Crosse, WI.

Thomas was born in Chippewa Falls, WI on March 2, 1951, to Robert Gerald Short and Edith Ramona Ritter. Thomas was married to Mary Ellen Kaiser on May 9, 1981, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA, they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in May.

Thomas enjoyed doing carpentry, mechanics, and restoring vintage vehicles. He had a love for one particular vehicle "The Old Gal" a 1935 Ford 3 window coupe.

Thomas is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, daughter Nicole Peterson (Chris) and son Tyler Short (Kasi). Eight beautiful grandchildren Haydn, Mason, Ashlynn, Eastyn, Laklyn, Mason, Jaxon, and Hudson. Brothers and sisters, Judi Nehring, Marie Holstein (Bob), Steve Short (Debbie), Dale Short (Leanne), Michael Short (Cindy), and Bob Short. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Edith Ramona Short. Brothers Jerry and Chris Short and sister Cindy Atkinson (Jon).

The family of Thomas R. Short wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Caregivers at Mayo, Eau Claire that gave wonderful care to Tom during his three months stay with them. Family also wishes to thank the Physician's Assistant, RN's and caregivers at Hillview Care Center, in The Oaks Memory Unit. Tom had a special bond with all the staff, teasing and joking back and forth. Tom enjoyed playing his harmonica for the staff and other residents. Tom thrived in their care, and we appreciate everything they did for him.

The Memorial Service will be held at Stokes Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona March 26, at 3 P.M. Visitation will be held from 1 P.M. until time of service.
