Thomas Arthur Browne, 95, drifted off to sleep and death mid-conversation, mid-day, on Sept 15, 2026. A long-time English Prof. at UW - Eau Claire, Tom was also a veteran, photographer, avid reader, writer, hunter, flyfisher, woodworker, and golfer.
He needed things to do with his summers, so he built a duck boat, a cabin, and a cedar-strip canoe. He dabbled in many forms of art, and left behind many canvasses and sketches and sculptures of wood and glass . . . as well as numerous cameras and golf clubs!
Tom is survived by daughters Julia and Laurel Browne, and by nephew and niece Randall Carlson and Susan Gerold, and Susan's children. His long-time love Carol Fairbanks preceded him in death by many years. No service is planned, in accordance with his wishes.
MEMORIALS to Doctors Without Borders or Feed My People, or the L. E. Phillips Memorial Public Library.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.
