Terry Lee Smith

Terry Lee Smith, 82, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on March 18, 2026. He was under hospice care.

Terry was born in Medford, Oregon on November 24, 1943 to Glenn and Gwendolyn Smith. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served until 1964. He then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Terry married Janice Holtze on June 24, 1967 and were married for 54 years until Janice's passing in 2022.

Terry worked for many years as an Industrial Technology teacher for the Whitehall School District until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed golfing, painting, wood working, and later assisting Janice with quilting, and being a Grandpa.

Terry is survived by his children: Jenny, Ben, Jeremiah (Jennifer), grandchildren Sophia and Cooper, sisters Gail (Jim) Mumm of LaCrosse, Taia (Dave) Frohman of Missouri, sister-in-laws Evelyn Holtze of MN and Jean (Wayne) Wilcott (TX). He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Terry is preceded in death by his wife Janice, his parents, and one brother Rodger Smith of South Carolina.

The family of Terry Smith would like to thank all the staff at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, and St. Croix Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Stokes, Prock, & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 1-4 PM.
