Steven Wayne Stafford

Steven Wayne Stafford, 79 of Altoona Wi passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 in Eau Claire, WI.

Steve was born in Eau Claire, Wi September 12,1946. He was the son of Obert Samuel Stafford & Delores Marjorie Biel. He Graduated from La Paz high school in 1964 in La Paz, Indiana and continued his education 1964-1966 at the Eau Claire Technical College for Marketing.

Steve was married to the love of his life and best friend, Jean Patrow on May 11,1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They were married for 58 years.

Steve was proud to serve in the military. He was in the Army and served overseas in Okinawa and was honorably discharged.

Steve really enjoyed working out in the community, he had many jobs through the years including being a mechanic at Sears and Goodyear Tire, Service Manager at Faherty GMC and Bothun Buick, He also worked at Benedict Refrigeration as an auto air conditioning tech and parts person he was a technician at Tri Mart and Kwik Cafe. He worked with Walmart and Sams club in the Tire Depts and Costco. He also worked at Auto Value and most recently, Steve worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts as a delivery driver. He enjoyed talking cars, parts and getting to know people with similar interests

Steve loved doing things with his wife, grandkids and family and taking road trips. He enjoyed oldies music, classic cars, going to car shows, seeing old friends with things in common. He appreciated all the connections he had with people. Steve was funny and had a great sense of humor. He liked doing yard work and spending time with his little dog, April. Steve always enjoyed talking old cars and parts and reminiscing about the oldies he used to own like his 69 Dodge Dart, 67 Gtx, and his 79 Chrysler 300.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jean Stafford, his daughter, Stacie Hansen and his son, Mike Stafford. He is survived by his brother, Jeff Stafford & wife Deb of North Carolina, his Sister Sandra Bronstetter and husband Tom from Indiana. He was also survived by his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other friends and family.

Steve is preceded in death by his Parents, Samuel & Delores Stafford, his sister, Sylvia Stafford and his little brother Gregory Stafford.

The celebration of life and funeral will be held at 11A.M. on Friday August, 28 at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway in Altoona. Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until time of service. Burial with military honors will take place at 1 P.M. at Forest Hill Cemetery.
