Sherman L. Deetz, age 83 of Eau Claire, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. He was born in Mondovi on December 2, 1941 to the late Russell and Lois Deetz.
He loved to fish and hunt. He was such a good shot that he got the nickname "One Shot Sherm). Sherman was a mechanic and an over the road truck driver, hence his love to travel. He enjoyed going to the casino, going out to eat and having coffee with buddies at Hardees.
Sherman married Judith Johnson. Together, they had 6 children. Judith passed away in 1994. He would later marry Susan Glenz. She passed away in 2023.
Survivors include his children: Robert, Tami (Tony) Monson, Jon (Julie), Jerry and Terry (Lisa); 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Bruce (Arlene); step-children: Wayne Helland (Jennifer Cahak), Barb Glenz and Rebekah (Michael) Larson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, daughter Heidi Deetz, the mother of his children, Judith, brother Verle Deetz and wife Susan.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Eau Claire on a later date.
