Sara Kay Backstrom

Sara Kay Backstrom, 52, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her home.

Sara was born in Eau Claire on September 19, 1973. She graduated from North High School in 1990. She was baptized and confirmed and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

She married Jeffrey Kundinger Sr. on April 17, 1999, and later moved from Eau Claire to Phillips, WI.

Sara was a stay-at-home mom for her four children: Joanna, Jeffrey Jr., Stacy, and Frank Jr. She loved being a mother and enjoyed singing and dancing.

Sara is survived by her children, Joanna Backstrom, Jeffrey Kundinger Jr., Stacy Backstrom, and Frank Backstrom; her former husband, Jeffrey Kundinger Sr.; her parents, David and Mary Backstrom; her sisters, Laura Backstrom, Barbara Miller, and Emily Boudreau; and her grandchildren, Landon, Sylas, and Sayla.

A celebration of Sara's life will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul Webber officiating, on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church and lunch will be after.
