Roger L. Flaskrud, 71, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away on February 21, 2026.
Life & Career
Roger was born in Eau Claire on March 12, 1954. A proud graduate of North High School, he went on to earn a technical degree in welding-a craft he turned into a lifelong career. Roger worked as a dedicated welder at Phoenix Steel (now Veritas Steel) for many years.
On July 28, 1984, Roger married Loris Gund. They were married for 41 years, building a large and loving family together.
Interests & Community
An avid outdoorsman, Rog found peace in the woods while hunting and loved the freedom of motorcycling. He was a man of service, deeply involved in the VFW Post 305 Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a gifted member of the Chippewa Valley Marine Core . He was an avid supporter of the Chippewa valley roller derby.
Family
Roger is survived by his children: Jeffrey Flaskrud of North Carolina, Anne Flaskrud, Sarah (Tony) Rahn, Cindy (Chris) Degner, Danielle (Robert) Motzer, and Justine (John) Greeley; and 14 grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: John, Nancy, Arlene, Mary, June, and Ruth; sisters in law Rita , Erin (Gary) multiple nieces & nephews and his best friend, Randy LaPlaca.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loris; his parents and parents-in-law; his daughter, Tonya; his brother, Bernie; and his grandson, Sam.
Services
A private funeral for family and close friends only will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church officiated by Father James. Roger's wishes for cremation will be honored with a private interment.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held:
When: March 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM
Where: VFW Post 305, 1300 Starr Avenue, Eau Claire, WI
