Robert "Bob" Joseph Schmidt Jr., 76, of Altoona, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.
Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 5th, 1949. He graduated from Mother of Good Counsel Seminary in Warrenton, MI. He went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Disabilities from Loyola University Chicago, and later his Masters in Behavioral Disabilities from UW Madison. Bob was married to his wife Carmen on January 21st, 2011; they were married for 14 years.
Bob worked in the medical field the majority of his life. Most notably as an Office Manager at Maxillofacial Surgery where he retired. He also was a volunteer Fireman and EMT in Spring Grove, MN. Bob had many hobbies including photography, fishing, HAM radio, and riding motorcycles. He was also actively involved in Beaver Creek Reserve and Special Olympics.
Bob is survived by his wife Carmen Schmidt, Brother David (Cathy) Schmidt, niece Natilie Schmidt, nephew Andrew (Sara) Schmidt, great-nephew Charles Schmidt, step-sons David and Noah Peters, and grandchildren Alexzander, Shannon, and Jaxzon Peters.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Schmidt Sr. and Annabelle Schmidt.
Bob's funeral service will be held Friday October 10th, 2025 at Stokes, Prock, & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Deacon Dave Allen will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 1 P.M. with a service at 2 P.M. with a luncheon to follow. Burial will occur at a later date.
