After a wonderful breakfast of waffles topped with whipped cream and fresh blueberries, Pat left his cup of coffee to drink after his shower. Before he made it to the shower, he died quickly from a heart attack, his cup of coffee still waiting for him at the table.
Pat suffered a multitude of health problems but kept his good attitude through it all. He loved being around people and sharing stories. As his health problems increased, it was very hard for him to give up driving, social and outdoor activities.
Patrick (Pete) was born in Minneapolis on April 15, 1941 to Oline (Halsness) and Patrick J. Casey. He was an only child. He married Janice (Luberacki) in 1963. She was the love of his life and they immensely enjoyed their long marriage and family. He shared his love of the outdoors with his two kids, Michael Casey (Mary Gerth) and Kathleen Casey O'Leary (Robert Zich), and his four grandchildren - Kyle O'Leary (Nora Hidalgo), Erin O'Leary, Leah O'Leary (Justin Michels), and Kelly O'Leary (Julia Michalkiewicz). He and Janice moved to Eau Claire, WI in 2005 to be close to the kids and grandchildren. He is also survived by Dolly, their springer spaniel, whom he adored.
Pat camped, fished, hunted, cut a lot of wood, and traveled to many places throughout his life. After retiring from United Power Association, he started a small business called Uncle Pete's Woodworking. His Adirondack chairs, tables, and birdhouses are enjoyed throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arizona.
Pat grew up Catholic and his faith never wavered. He was most recently a member of St. Olaf Church in Eau Claire. He loved the Vikings and enjoyed watching their last game, wearing his purple shirt and cheering at the TV.
He was a good man who lived a good life. He is deeply missed and leaves many many good memories for us...
