Orville Frank Cook, known as “JR” died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 24, 2021. JR was born in Brainerd, MN, on November 25, 1954, to Orville Wait Cook and Bernice Mary (Gorman) Cook.
JR attended St. Paul area schools. He owned/managed an Auto Detail Shop for several years. He moved to Silver Lake, MN, and was an insurance adjuster, then moved to Glencoe, MN, working as a machinist until becoming disabled from COPD and neuropathy. He had a great love of horses and was an accomplished rodeo barrel racer. He overcame bladder cancer in 2015 and moved into a mobile home on his brother’s property in the “Buttermilk Coulee”, rural Elmwood, WI in August of 2016, where he resided until his death. He enjoyed riding the four-wheeler, mowing lawn, and helping Randy raise pigs.
JR is survived by his two sons, Charles (Tiffany) Cook of West St. Paul, MN and Cormac (Erin) Cook of Hopkins, MN, grandchildren Alexis & Mason Cook, and Ashley & Greyson Cook; three brothers: Don (Marcie) Cook of Sun City West, AZ, Randy (Sharon) Cook, Elmwood, WI, and Terry Cook of Green Valley, AZ, as well as special friends Kelly and Dennis Thole of Glencoe, MN.
A Celebration of Life may be scheduled in the spring.
