Nancy Mae Urban, age 91 of Eau Claire, WI entered the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on June 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born on June 14, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Iver and Esther Johnson. She graduated from South Division High School in 1953 and went on to earn her RN degree from Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing. Early in her career, Nancy worked at several hospitals, but she spent most of her years as a dedicated operating room nurse at Highland Park Hospital in Illinois.
On August 10, 1957 she married her sweetheart, Gerald Urban, at Garfield Baptist Church in Milwaukee, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. After raising their children in Lincolnshire, Illinois they became "snow birds" and split their time between Ft. Myers, FL and northern Wisconsin at "the cabin." They were blessed with many wonderful memories and friends at both locations.
She was devoted to her beloved husband and poured her heart into raising her children, and found immense joy in her grandchildren. She loved being a Grandma, always ready to play and laugh with her grandchildren. She had a special gift for creating spontaneous stories that delighted their imaginations. Her playful spirit and loving heart will be cherished forever.
Nancy had a deep and unwavering Christian faith that guided every part of her life. Her love for the Lord was evident in her care and service for others. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She created a warm and welcoming home, and had a knack for decorating. She loved to play the piano and sing hymns. She loved to cook, especially her famous oatmeal raisin cookies and carrot cake. She enjoyed swimming, playing card games, socializing with friends, and spending quiet time reading her Bible, along with biographies and books on history.
She is survived by her loving faithful husband, Gerald; her son Mark (Lisa) Urban; her daughter Rachel (Greg) Wallace; her grandchildren, Nicolai (Kayla) Wallace, Allison (Ethan) Salau, Sarah (Andrew) T schumper, Hannah (s/o Nick) Urban, Matthew Urban , Claire (s/o Dan) Urban. Great grandchildren; Murphy, Daphne, and Summer, cousin Joan Blatt , niece and nephew along with extended family and many wonderful friends. She was proceed in death by her parents, her in-laws, Charles and Beatrice Urban and her sister Rachel Forrester.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Croix hospice for the care that they provided in Nancy's final weeks.
