Michael William "Mike" Phillips, 72, of Fall Creek, Wisconsin, passed away on January 18, 2026 from atypical Parkinson's disease.
Born on December 30, 1953, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Mike was the son of Bill and Grace Phillips. He graduated from Memorial High School and went on to attend some college courses at UW-Stout. His early career began at Jackson Lumber Harvester in Mondovi, where he developed a deep understanding of lumber processing equipment. With time and experience, Mike launched his own consulting business focused on constructing and servicing lumber processing machinery-a venture that reflected both his technical skill and entrepreneurial spirit.
Mike was known for his quiet strength, generous nature, and sharp intellect. Those who knew him appreciated his thoughtful demeanor and steady presence. Mike never complained about having Parkinson's. He just dealt with it like he did with everything in life. He had a lifelong love of reading and enjoyed spending time at the movies. Animals held a special place in his heart, and he shared a close bond with his beloved dog Elvis.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Solberg; brothers Chris (Kay) Phillips and Brian Phillips; sister Nancy (Tony) Curtis; sisters-in-law Donna Condron and Karen (Ralph) Meyer; stepchildren Wendy Proffitt, Shelly (Kevin) Schmitz, Jesse (Samie) Proffitt, Laura (Pete Johnson) Walk, and David (Kayla) Proffitt; nephews Jason, Joe, Josh, Tyler, Will, and Logan; nieces Kayla, Jessica, and Lindsay; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Grace Phillips, sister-in-law Patsy Phillips, and his nephew Kevin Condron.
In keeping with Mike's love for animals, memorials may be directed to the Eau Claire County Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday January 30 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy. Altoona. A service of remembrance will begin at 12:00 PM (noon). A luncheon will follow the remembrance service.
