Michael Robert Penny

Mike Penny, 74, of River Falls, passed away on March 7th.

Mike was born on August 9, 1951 to Leo and Rosemary in Hudson, WI. At age 19, Mike was drafted into the US Army where he was later honorably discharged.

After leaving the service, Mike worked in the marine industry and was employed by Kings Cove Marina. Mike was extremely passionate about his job and loved what he did for a living.

In 1969, he met Roberta (Bobbie). Mike and Bobbie married and went on to have two children, Robert and Rachel.

After losing Bobbie in 1996, Mike met and married Marcia in 1999.

Mike retired in 2006 after 32 years in the field. While retired, Mike spent summers in River Falls and winters in Florida. He enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with various projects, spending time with his family and loved his grandsons dearly.

Mike was predeceased in death by his wife Roberta Penny, parents Leo and Rosemary Penny, brothers John (Kathy) Peterson, Jim (Leona) Peterson, Joe (Lola) Peterson, Pete (Barb and Rita) Peterson, Ed (Kathy) Peterson, and sister Rosemary (Todd) Christiansen.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Penny, son, Robert (Wendy) Penny, daughter, Rachel (Corey Westerberg) Matzek, grandsons, Dylan (Ally) Penny, Tyler Penny, Owen (Paige) Matzek, Ian (Hayley) Matzek, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on March 21, 2026 at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am. A luncheon will follow in the school cafeteria. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Veterans Affairs.
