Michael Walter Brown

Michael "Mike" Walter Brown, age 86, of Eau Claire, WI. passed on April 11, 2026 peacefully to the care of his Savior Jesus Christ. Born on March 31,1940, the son of (late)Walter and Lilas Brown of Eau Claire, WI.

He attended, Eau Claire High School, later changed to Memorial H.S, graduating in their first class in 1958. While in high school he met Jane Dundas, they quickly fell in love and were married in May of 1959, there marriage lasting 65 years. Also, while in school he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and spent summers as camp counselor and bugler at Camp Phillips, in Haugen, WI. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1956. As a member of the Boy Scout's Band, they formed the E.C Explorer Scout Corps 56'-59', led by his father Walter Brown, that evolved into the Eau Claire Boys Drum and Bugle Corps. This organization earned numerous competition awards from 1959 to 1969 and was nationally recognized throughout the US and Canada.

Soon after, Mike experienced a life changing auto accident... He began his career working in the truck division of International Harvester in downtown Eau Claire. As a sales agent, he sold and leased semi-trucks to, some of the largest trucking companies today. He then accepted a position of Credit Manager with Lyman Lumber Co. His responsibilities included managing their contractor's construction loans. This transitioned into a land developer role where he purchased land and designed several residential sub-division home sites in Eau Claire County. He was employed by Lyman's until his retirement.

He was a loyal Green Bay Packers Fan even all through the 70's & 80's! He liked catching a nice sized bass at the cottage and went hunting, patiently watching for the Big Buck. He and Jane took the family on some fun trips along the way too. Mike spent his last few years under the excellent care of Dove West.

Mike is survived by his wife Jane, his sister Brenda Marlow of Nesbit, MS. Sons David Brown of Eau Claire, WI, Mark (Dianne) Brown of Eau Claire, WI and Steven (Gretchen)Brown of Reedsburg, WI. Grandchildren included are Collin Brown of Eau Claire, WI., Molly (Carly) Sprouse of La Crosse, WI., Ian (Olivia) Brown of Lake Delton WI., Nolan (Abbey) Brown of Portage WI., Lily Brown of Reedsburg WI and so far, great grandson Beau Brown (Nolan & Abbey)

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28 at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 3735 Jeffers Rd., Eau Claire with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire.
