Matthew Benson of Fall Creek passed away on May 4th 2026. (May the 4th be with him)
Matt was born at Sacred Heart hospital in Eau Claire to Conrad and Mary Benson. Matt grew up in the Albertville area on the family farm. He attended Hillside school and later Chippewa Falls. After school Matt joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany as a driver of all sorts of military equipment. When Matt returned from the Army he worked on farms and in factories around Wisconsin. In the 80's Matt made a career change and started driving over the road trucks. In his 40 plus years Matt drove for various companies and even owned his own for some time. Matt enjoyed taking his sons with him whenever he could. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing he would take his sons and other family whenever possible. Truck driving was a passion he continued till his health prevented it.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents Conrad and Mary, brothers Mike, Rodger, Pete, and Ronnie. Along with other family and friends.
Matt is survived by Mary Martin (special friend), sons Matt Jr., Trinity (granddaughters Georgelle and Kelcey), Terrence "TJ" and Katey (grandson Lucas). Sister-in-law Steph Benson, Sister Pat Mueller (Rick), brothers Curt Benson (Sharon), Scott "Bubba" Benson, Jerry Benson (Kristi), along with several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the care teams for all they did for Matt over the years. Special thanks to the Tomah VA health system, Marshfield Medical Center and Cancer Center, PAM Health and Rehab Hospital in Wausau, Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center of Owen.
A celebration of life will be held at the Sand Bar and Grill on May 26th 2026 from 3:00 till 6:00pm.
Matt is being interned at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Spooner Wisconsin on May 27th 2026 at 1:00pm.
