Marie Freeland

Marie Evaline Freeland, 99, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at River Pines in Altoona.

Born on May 6, 1926, in Corvallis, Oregon, to Raymond and Gladys Hosford, Marie lived a full and vibrant life. After graduating from high school, she met the love of her life, Everette Freeland. They were married on October 4, 1946, and shared 70 wonderful years together.

Marie was a woman of many talents and passions. A gifted artist, she especially loved working with ceramics and even ran her own online business, Tiffany Creations. She was also an avid bowler who achieved the rare feat of bowling a perfect game. Hardworking and dedicated, Marie remained employed until the age of 83, spending many of those years with Green Thumb, an organization committed to helping people find jobs and housing. Her dedication earned her national recognition for outstanding service.

Beyond her work and hobbies, Marie was a true social butterfly who loved giving back to her community. She had a way of brightening every room she entered with her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit. She volunteered with Eastern Star, where she served twice as Worthy Matron. Known for her kindness, creativity, and giving heart, she touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.

Marie is survived by her children Bruce (Deb), Roxanne, Everette Jr. (Karen), and Don (Cindy); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her son-in-law Thomas Anderson; siblings Richard Hosford and Joanne Styer; and sister-in-law Irene Hosford.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everette Sr.; parents, Raymond and Gladys Hosford; children Ronald and Debbie Anderson; granddaughters Katherine and Melissa Freeland; brothers Raymond Jr. and Robert Hosford; and brother-in-law Larry Styer.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway with Pastor Jeremy Freeland officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Private interment will be the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Marie's legacy of love, service, and joy will live on in the many lives she so beautifully touched.
