Madeleine Lois Frandsen

February 23, 1939 — February 12, 2026

Madeleine Lois (Brandt) Frandsen, 86, originally from Cumberland, Wisconsin, and a longtime resident of Superior and Eau Claire, passed away on February 12, 2026.

Born on February 23, 1939, in Cumberland to Arthur and Lois Brandt. She married her high school sweetheart, Bart Frandsen, on August 13, 1960. That same year, she received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Shortly after college, Madeleine began her teaching career in the Baldwin, Wisconsin schools before moving to Superior, where she taught in the Superior Public Schools, as a full-time teacher and later as a dedicated substitute teacher. She took great pride in her work and cared deeply for her students.

While living in Superior, Madeleine and Bart welcomed their three children: Todd Frandsen, Beth (Frandsen) Thune, and Tim Frandsen. Her devotion to her family was at the heart of everything she did.

Following her years in education, Madeleine continued to serve her community through retail work including at Marshall Field's and Macy's in Eau Claire. She could always be counted on to help customers offering patience, kindness, and a warm smile.

Madeleine was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life. Included in her volunteer work was the Mental Health Association and support for local libraries. She had a deep compassion for those less fortunate and a sincere desire to make a difference wherever she could.

Madeleine was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Bart, who passed away in June of 2025. She is survived by her children; her favorite twin granddaughters, Katie and Sarah Thune; Beth's husband, Todd Thune, who was always welcomed by Madeleine as another son; dear brother and sister-in-law Paul and Betty Frandsen, cherished extended family member Jerry Huang and special Superior neighbor Paula (Nelson) Kock. She was also proud of her nieces and nephews throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Madeleine leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and love to her family and community.

A special thank you is given to Cambridge Senior Living and Lily Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion.

A celebration of Madeleine's life will be held from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. on Saturday, March 21 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy Altoona.
