Lynn F. Peterson passed peacefully from this world into his eternal home with our Lord and Savior on October 9th, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lynn was born to Grace and Lynn Peterson in 1936 and was raised in Littlefork, Minnesota. During his years at Littlefork High School, he excelled as a student and was the valedictorian of his class along with being a very good athlete. He moved to the Eau Claire area for further educational pursuits, attending UW-Eau Claire.
He worked for Dolly Madison, and then spent the majority of his career with Uniroyal Goodrich, where he worked until his retirement. It was in Eau Claire that he met "his girl" (as he liked to call her), Bev Roskos and they married in 1957, sharing a remarkable 69 years together. They were long-time members of St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Altoona, Wisconsin, where they practiced their faith for many years. They raised six children and were blessed with twelve grandchildren and three great-grandsons, all of whom brought immeasurable joy and pride to their lives.
Lynn had a zest for life and loved being with family, friends, or even someone he just met. He truly loved connecting with people and if he could help anyone in any small way, he'd gladly take that opportunity to show an act of kindness. He enjoyed playing cards, watching and attending sporting events, along with hunting and going to the races in his younger years. He very much appreciated his morning coffee gatherings with his Mondovi friends and playing cards or cribbage with his Altoona friends, with many stories shared and friendships that flourished over the years.
Above all, Lynn cherished time spent with his family and in his faith. He was devout in going to Mass and loved celebrating family milestones, or simply being together, finding his greatest happiness in the people he loved most. He lived a rich life for ninety years and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and love and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bev, his children: Caryn Christensen, Laury Anderson, Sandee Peterson, Mike (Lisa) Peterson, Lisa (Tom) Cliver, and Rae Ann Butler - and dear family friend who was thought of like a son, Joe Polder.
He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Lindsay Anderson (Bill Ayotte), Calli Anderson, Fulton Flanary, Zula Flanary, Laiken (Jake) Kentnich, Seth (Taylor) Peterson, Mollyrae Peterson, Joe (Maci) Cliver, Emily (Jared) Tenpas, Olivia Butler (Logan Carroll), Elayna Butler, and Alison Butler; and his great-grandchildren, Owen Peterson, Everett Peterson and Calvin Kentnich.
Lynn is also survived by his brother, Dale (Arlene) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Donna (Marv) Burns and Judy Norby; brother-in-law, Allen Roskos; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Lynn Peterson; sister, Missy Bowman; mother and father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Roskos, son-in-law, Larry Christensen; brother-in-law, Frank Roskos, sister-in-law, Elaine Roskos and nephew, Steven Roskos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altoona, Wisconsin with Fr. Greg Bohren officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. at the church with Mass following at 12:30 p.m. A private family Christian burial will follow.
The family would like to thank all who offered their love, friendship, prayers, and support during Lynn's life and in his final days. A personal expression of gratitude is extended to Dr. Obaid for helping keep Lynn in such good health for so many years. A special thank you to all the care teams at Oakleaf Medical, St. Croix Hospice and especially all those at Dove Healthcare South - you all showed your compassion and care for "Mr. Lynn" as you liked to call him. The constant love and support you showed to him and to us brought you all in as a part of our family and we cannot thank you enough.
Lynn now rests in the loving arms of his Savior. May perpetual light shine upon him, and may his soul rest in peace.
