Lucille Mae Anderson, 92, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully, gaining her wings on Mother's Day, May 11, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1932 in Menomonie, WI to Stella and William Hoover.
Lucy worked for the Eau Claire Book & Stationery, enjoyed playing in her women's softball league under the lights of the NSP fields; earning her nickname of "daddy long legs". Her future in-laws faithfully attended her practices and games, while the love of her life, Charlie, was in the Army stationed at Okinawa.
On June 19, 1954, Lucy married Charles H. Anderson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Together they had five children, nine grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
While raising her five children she worked hard. Lucy retired in 1994 after working 30+ years as a CNA.
Mom truly had the gift to gab and you'd always see her with a cup of coffee. She always loved helping others. At her assisted living, she'd welcome the newcomers and help them feel at home in their new routines and surroundings.
Some of her happiest times were spent with family at the lake, rooting on "her Packers", and going to thrift sales and finding awesome finds for her grandkids.
She is survived by her children Rhonda (Dave) Hamilton, Paula (Steve) Rust of Weyerhaeuser, Mark (Julie) Anderson, and Karla (Michael) Ash of Largo, FL. Grandchildren John and Laura Hamilton, Annie Dammann, Mchael Rust, Katie DeWenter, Whitney Evans, Lisa Richardson, and Zachary Anderson. Also 12 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, brothers David Johnson and Bill Bird, and sister Kathy Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charlie, son Eric, granddaughter Amy Zito, brothers Glenn, Jerry, Russell, and Robert Hoover, Vernon Lee, and sisters Dona Merritt and Stella Schafer.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the teams at Azura Memory Care and to St. Croix Hospice for their comfort and support.
