Lucas J Kinblom

Lucas James Kinblom, age 28, of Elk Mound, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Lucas was born in Madison, WI on May 19, 1998 to Greg and Jennifer Kinblom. He graduated from Elk Mound High School in 2016. After graduating, Lucas wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement. His passion for this led him to attend CVTC where he earned his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. Lucas' career path started with the Dunn County Sheriff's Dept, then part-time at the Colfax Police Dept, and UW Stout Police Department since 2020.

Lucas had a love for hunting, guns, and shooting. In the fall and spring, Lucas would spend a majority of his time hunting deer, pheasants, waterfowl, and turkey. Lucas had many fond memories hunting with his Dad, Marcus and Morgan. Lucas especially enjoyed hunting up north for deer on his grandparent's property, chasing ducks on the Mississippi River, taking trips to South Dakota with his dad for pheasants, planning trips with Chase and Marcus, spending time in the deer stand with Morgan, the list goes on and on. Lucas was overjoyed to set Marcus up for a turkey hunt right in his backyard for his nephew Beaux's first successful hunt. Anything Lucas could do with hunting, he would do.

Lucas' hobbies included music, traveling, video games and eating. He had a gifted ear and talent to play cello and trumpet without sheet music. Lucas and Morgan held a special bond together as they would frequently perform cello-violin duets with the help of mom's piano accompaniment at church services. Lucas was an avid traveler. Throughout the years, he made several trips to visit his Uncles out west in Colorado and Arizona specifically being a spot where all the Uncles could meet. Lucas enjoyed finding new places for hiking and most recently developed an interest in scuba diving which he had experienced on his last trip to Florida. For anyone who knows Lucas, the man could eat! He was always happy unless he was hangry, so we knew to proceed with caution and get him food.

Family time was one of the most important aspects in Lucas' life. Between spending time at his grandparent's, his Uncle Mark's cabin at the lake or simply having family dinner at mom and dads, he was always happy to be together with family. Uncle 'Yukey', as he was called, was so proud of Beaux and Rylee. He loved his parents' dogs, all three of them, and was always happy (most of the time) to be the built-in dog sitter when needed. Anybody who knew Lucas was well aware of his gift of gab. He frequently called those people most important to him. Almost always at the start of his shifts, there was a call to mom. In the morning, he almost always called his grandma on his way home, usually starting with an ole "heyyyy granny".

Most of all he enjoyed being a police officer. Lucas was incredibly selfless, humble and gave everything he had to everyone else. He took such pride in helping his community, putting a smile on anyone's face and saving lives. It is worth mentioning that Lucas also loved testing the limits in his squad cars. When the opportunity presented itself, it was safe to say Lucas would be there fast. When shifts got slow and quiet, Lucas would often have 'conference calls' with Marcus, coworkers, and close friends and family. He was so incredibly proud of Marcus for following in his footsteps of serving the community as a police officer. It was an incredible honor for him to be promoted to a Sergeant position this past May. He was never afraid to bring new innovative ideas to the department to enhance daily work functions and, most importantly, safety. If his shift fell over a holiday, it was most certain Lucas would be involved in the interagency potlucks, kindly volunteering then sequestering his parents' assistance for cooking.

He is survived by his parents, Greg and Jennifer; brother Marcus (Merideth); nephew Beaux; niece Rylee; sister Morgan (Gabe); Grandparents: Ronald (Sharon) Proffit and Robert Kinblom; Aunt Renelle (Brian) Janz; Uncles: Jeff (Sharon) Kinblom, Dean (Rob) Kinblom, Mark Kinblom and Gary Gill; Cousins: Trevor (Kim), Nathan, Yana, Sasha, Brett (Dustin), Grant (Autumn). Lucas is further survived by his law enforcement family and many friends.

Preceding him in death is his grandmother Gerri Kinblom.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with funeral services to immediately follow on Saturday, June 27, at Cedarbrook Church, 3502 Wilson St., Menomonie.
