Katherine Lynne Urbanek

Katherine "Kathy" Lynne Urbanek, age 66 of Eau Claire passed away on Monday, March 9 2026.

She was born to Dean and Nora Urbanek in Rockford, Illinois on February 15, 1960. In her early childhood, she grew up in Rockford, Illinois until 1971. Her family then moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and she lived from 1971 until 1995 where she worked for the Caller Times Newspaper. She then moved to Eau Claire in 1995 where she worked for the Leader Telegram and Excel Energy.

Kathy had many hobbies that kept her busy including reading, crafts, taking care of pets, walking, biking and swimming. She knew sign language and taught water aerobics at Eau Claire Fitness. Outdoor activities were very important to Kathy, she loved going to the Irvine Park Zoo in Chippewa Falls where she could go feed the animals at the petting zoo and going to local parks to feed the ducks. Kathy's spiritual life was something she held dear to her. She was a longtime member of Birch Street Baptist Church and recently became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dean and Nora.

She is survived by her two brothers David and Dean Urbanek of Denton, Texas.

There will be a memorial church service held for Kathy at Calvary Baptist Church, 3036 Epiphany Lane, Eau Claire, on Friday, March 13 at 3:30 P.M.
