Judy Elizabeth Schirmacher

January 29, 1941 — March 21, 2026

Judy Elizabeth Schirmacher, 85, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Oakwood Health Services in Altoona.

Judy was born in Emerald, Wisconsin, on January 29, 1941, to Paul and Violet Fleming. She graduated from Glenwood City High School as valedictorian.

Judy met Richard Schirmacher in 1960 on a blind date (6 days after he was released from the Marine Corp). They married on June 2, 1962, and lived in Chippewa Falls for 5 years before settling in Eau Claire in 1967 where they lived ever since. Judy and Richard celebrated an incredible 63 years of marriage!

Judy was dedicated and hardworking, spending nearly two decades at Chippewa Motor Freight in accounts receivable, followed by many years with Canteen Vending Services until her retirement around the age of 58.

Judy is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Terri (Jim) Grzyb; and her grandson, Ryan. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Gwin.

Judy enjoyed gardening (she had quite the green thumb) and loved animals (especially dachshunds), bike riding, and polka fests. She was an amazing cook and could even play the accordion, as well as the piano.

Above all, Judy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her sweetness and generosity towards others.

The family wishes to thank Oakwood Health Services for the care she received during the last few months.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI, on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow.
