Judith Ann Loomis
Age 82
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, with her family by her side.
Judy was born on April 30, 1943 to Kernel and Nettie (Gunderson) Edison and raised in Bennett Valley, south of Eleva, Wisconsin. She attended a one-room grade school in East Bennett Valley and later graduated from Eleva-Strum High School.
On September 28, 1963, Judy married Lee Loomis at the East Bennett Valley Church. Their 55-year marriage was blessed with three children: Scott, Kevin, and Greg. Judy and Lee owned and operated the Cardinal Café in Eleva for 10 years. After selling the café in 1998, she worked for Lutheran Social Services until her retirement in 2005.
Judy had many interests, including watching game shows, doing crossword puzzles, and making trips up north to the family cabin. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and cherished the family trips to Alabama. Every other Thursday, she looked forward to family lunches, where she enjoyed the company of her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Lee, his parents, her son Kevin, and three sisters: Edith Olson, Verna Edison, and Yvonne Borgwardt, as well as her brother Gerald Edison. She was also preceded by brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard Olson, Berton Hawkenson, Robert Dole, Duane Borgwardt, Stanley and Alice Loomis, Loren and Sharon Loomis, and Monty Loomis.
Judy is survived by her two children, Scott (Penny) of Eau Claire and Greg of Eau Claire; three grandchildren: Steven (Anna) of Altoona, Melissa of St. Paul, MN, and Tim (Steven) of Eau Claire. She is also survived by two sisters: Eunice Hawkenson and Sonjia Dole, daughter-in-law Nicole Loomis of Phoenix, AZ, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Judy was known for her kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to St. Croix Hospice and Compassus Home Healthcare for their exceptional care.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 South Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona with Pastor JonPaul Dragseth officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior. Burial will be held at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery, Mondovi.
