John M. Bauer, 77, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1948 in Eau Claire, WI, to William J. and Elizabeth (Preissl) Bauer. John graduated from North High School in 1966.
John married Judy Mueller on August 26, 1972. They were married 52 years. He worked as a bricklayer (a perfectionist) from 1968 to his retirement in 2005 and was a member of the bricklayer's union. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1974. John and Judy had many adventures whether it was canoeing, camping, duck hunting with their black lab Tosha, hunting in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness Area in Idaho with their horses Rebel and Ebony, many vacations exploring out west, and hunting at Andy's cabin.
John is survived by his wife, Judy; three siblings, Jerome (Sharon) Bauer, Margaret Colbenson, and Julie Orr; sisters-in-law, Janet Bauer, Peggy Mueller-Carlson (Bill), and brother-in law, Richard Mueller and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother William, sisters Mary E. Anderson, Loretta Sullivan and Pauline Hagmann, father-in-law Morris Mueller, mother-in-law Elsie Mueller and sisters-in-law Barbara Winrich.
John will be sorely missed by his wife Judy, and for all the people that knew and loved him, we'll see you in the mansion in the sky and will be singing "Delta Dawn" by Tanya Tucker with you.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 6 at the Eau Claire Rod & Gun Club, 801 Schoettle Ave., Eau Claire, from 5:00 P.M-8:00 P.M. A private burial will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire.
