In Loving Memory of Joan Westlund

Joan Carol Westlund, from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, at the age of 78, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. She never gave up, trying every possible treatment. She fought hard and kept her sense of humor throughout.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Severin "Socky" and Lorraine Westlund; her sister, Jan Weiner; and her great-nephew, Lance Weiner.

She is survived by her niece, Lori (Curtiss) Greenwood; her nephew, Ron (Sarah) Weiner; her great-nieces, Akeisha and Meagan Myers, with whom she took great pride in the kind, accomplished women they've become and her other great niece Kayla and great nephew Chase.

Joan graduated from Memorial High School in 1965 and went on to earn her college degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota by attending night school, all while working for Xerox. She later moved to Tucson, Arizona, and absolutely loved living there, often speaking about her friends and experiences. She had a love of books and a deep thirst for knowledge, which she shared generously with those around her. After her sister Janice passed away in 2004, Joan made the decision to move back home to be there for her niece and nephew. She later worked at UnitedHealthcare, where she thoroughly enjoyed her co-workers and manager.

Joan will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her kindness and humor will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike.
