Jean Van Duyse

May 2, 1943 — May 26, 2025

Jean Ann (Grondin) Van Duyse, 82, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 2, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, to Stanley and Alice Grondin, Jean grew up with a deep sense of compassion and devotion to others, a quality that defined her life's work and her role as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A proud graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School, Class of 1961, Jean married the love of her life, Peter Kenneth (Ken) Van Duyse, on May 11, 1963. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their four children.

They settled in Cadott, where they spent most of their lives on a beautiful piece of land just north of town. Surrounded by the peacefulness of nature, with wildlife roaming nearby and a pond full of fish, their home was a place of warmth and lasting memories.

Jean devoted her career to caring for others, working as a Resident Care Technician at Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled until her retirement. Her gentle spirit and tireless dedication touched many lives.

Outside of work, Jean found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved tending to her vibrant flower gardens, reading a good book, and creating beautifully intricate cross-stitch art. She was always up for a new adventure, especially cruises and spirited trips to Las Vegas, but her favorite moments were those spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ken; three daughters, Sue Koch (Rick Balz) of Boyd, Julie (Barry) Kahl of Jim Falls, Lisa (Kevin) Fennell of Zephyrhills, FL.; one son, Mike (Alyssa) Van Duyse of Chippewa Falls; brothers Bob Grondin and Jim (Julie) Grondin; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog Shiloh.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill Grondin.

A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jean's name to the Chippewa Humane Association or the Door County Community Foundation.

Jean's legacy of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
