Janis Kaye Dvoracek

Jun 30, 1944 — Aug 26, 2026

Janis Kaye Dvoracek, 82, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away on August 26, 2026.

Janis was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on June 30, 1944. As a child, Janis loved riding her horses and she was a Tri-State Champion in equitation. She graduated from Regis High School and went on to earn both her bachelor's and an extended master's degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She dedicated her career to education, working in a variety of roles for Elmwood Public Schools.

Janis met the love of her life, Dennis M. Dvoracek, at Regis High School in January 1962. They married on September 17, 1966, and were just weeks away from celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary together. Janis and Dennis cherished the life they built together. They especially loved gathering with their children, sharing meals with family and friends, spending time together at the lake, landscaping their home, and attending University of Minnesota men's basketball games and Golden Dunkers' events. They also enjoyed watching sports and television together and traveling, including many memorable road trips to destinations throughout the United States. Janis especially loved planting beautiful flowers and trees around their home, creating a place they both enjoyed and took great pride in.

Janis loved to read and work on crossword puzzles. Her dogs were constant companions, and she found great joy in sitting outside together, taking in the views, or heading out for a walk. She had a Norwegian sweet tooth and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed line dancing with her friends at the senior center and going to church on Sunday mornings. Janis was also actively involved with the Eau Claire Community Foundation and the Women's Giving Circle. She loved college sports-especially football and basketball. She was deeply proud of her family and especially loved her grandchildren, supporting them in their activities.

Janis is survived by her husband, Dennis; her three sons, Christopher (Susan) Dvoracek and twins Alexander and Benjamin (Pam) Dvoracek; and her grandchildren, David (Kaylen), Jeffrey, Zachary, and Addison Dvoracek. She is also survived by other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Obert and Rose Larson, and her sister, Mari Goldman.
