Janice Lynn Cline, 78, of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. She went peacefully at her home, after enduring a courageous battle with cancer for several years. Born May 3, 1947, the daughter of James and Florence Wenzbauer, she spent much of her young life in North Riverside, Illinois, where she attended Mater Christi Catholic School, followed by Riverside Brookfield High School.
Emerald may have been her birthstone, but Jan was a true diamond in the rough. Devoted and loving wife to John (Jack) of 59 years, mother of three, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she dedicated her life to tending to her home, and was the rock of the family. While her kids were still in school, she opted to take a small but meaningful job outside of the home, where she quickly became everyone's favorite lunch lady. Jan was a very generous, loving, and kindhearted soul, with a great sense of humor and love for her family, which empowered her with the strength and determination to fight tirelessly during her illness.
Jan is survived by her husband, John; children, Jennifer (Mark) Lautenbach and Jon (Becky) Cline; grandchildren Ashley, Joseph, Zoey, Braxton, and Mylei; and great-grandchildren Bailee and Haiden. She is preceded in death by her parents and eldest son, James.
A celebration of life announcement will be forthcoming. The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel for their compassionate care.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
