Janet Compeau

July 1, 1954 — July 7, 2025

Her name was and ever more shall be Janet Susan Compeau. She was born July 1, 1954, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2025, at River Pines Long-term Care Center in Altoona, Wisconsin. She lived on this earth 71 years and was loved well and at peace when she passed.

Janet was raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Paul and Clara Whiteside who preceded her in evermore salvation. It is impossible to describe in human words how much Janet loved her parents and her family; Paul served in WWII and Clara birthed and raised nine children while Paul worked at Uniroyal for forever after he came home from the war. The Whitesides are a loving, tight, and legendary Wisconsin family, dominating the Chippewa Valley with their fishing and hunting, Packers watching, and fish frying. In short, the Whitesides know how to have a Wisconsin-good time. Janet loved NOTHING MORE than celebrating occasions with them. There were so, so many good times together. Janet is survived by eight Whiteside siblings: Paul (Cathy), James (Mary), Dennis, William (Susan), Ronald (Jean), Joseph (Linda), Miriam, and Pamela, and their families (including dozens of grandkids and several great-grandkids to Paul and Clara). She knew all the family's anniversaries and birthdays by memory.

Janet was married for 33 years to the love of her life Wayne Compeau, and they had a big family. She is preceded in salvation by Wayne's parents Wabeorn and Deloris Compeau, and is survived by Wabe and Dee's children Todd and Debra.

She was mother to five - James Jensen (Shannon), Jason Jensen (Jenna), Daniel Compeau, Nathan Thibideau, and Tabitha Graun (Jason) - and grandmother to nine. Janet loved her family 'to the moon and back' and enjoyed lavishing gifts on them for every occasion. Her whole life was about time with family, from the Whitesides to the Compeaus, to her own, nothing meant more to her.

Janet also never met a stranger. She would just talk to you, anywhere, any time. And after spending 5 minutes with her, you'd have exchanged life stories. She just loved talking to and getting to know people. This was a God-given gift and a wonder to those around her. She defeated some serious health issues later in life and would testify that she was 'a walking miracle,' given more time to share her story and about Jesus. The world feels less friendly without her.

The family thanks the fine people at River Pines for taking such good care of Janet in her last years. She was comfortable and at peace there until the end. The family is grateful.
