Hattie "Hap" Hagedorn, age 94, passed peacefully on May 4, 2026, at Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, where she had resided for the past several years.
Hattie was born on January 31, 1932, in Fall Creek to Mabel and Hugo Polinski. She was the oldest of seven siblings and grew up surrounded by family and strong values that she carried throughout her life.
On January 10, 1953, she married Ernest L. Hagedorn. Together they made their home in Kenosha, where they raised their son, Russell Hagedorn. Hattie worked for many years as a talented seamstress at Jockey International until her retirement in January 1995.
Shortly after retiring, Hattie relocated to Colfax, where she enjoyed a full and active life. She spent her time sewing, knitting, traveling, and being actively involved in her church community. Hattie was known for her caring spirit, dedication to family, and the joy she found in helping others through her many talents and acts of kindness. She will also be remembered for the sparkle in her eye and the warmth of her smile.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Hagedorn; her son, Russell Hagedorn; and several brothers, sisters, and dear friends.
Hattie will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, faith, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Trinity Cemetery, Fall Creek, where Hattie will be laid to rest beside her husband and son.
