Gerald Louis Hartwich

Gerald Louis Hartwich known as (Gerry) by many, of Fall Creek, WI passed away peacefully with family at his side on Sunday morning February 15, 2026 at Dove West, Eau Claire.

Gerry was born on January 9, 1941 in Eau Claire, WI to Louis & Marie (Horlacher) Hartwich of Fall Creek. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Fall Creek and attended Fall Creek Schools, graduating in 1959. He then entered the Airforce serving his country until he was honorably discharged in 1964.

On April 23, 1966 he married Sharyn R Welke at Our Redeemer Lutheran in Eau Claire. He lived his entire life with Sharyn in Fall Creek.

He worked for over 23 years at Uniroyal Goodrich as a Lab Technician in Eau Claire and then for over 20 years as maintenance for Walmart in Eau Claire. Gerry and Sharyn liked traveling, especially to Hawaii and Las Vegas. Another favorite thing was going to their cabin on Prairie Lake in Chetek with family and friends. Gerry was a big supporter of the Fall Creek Crickets and enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers games.

Gerry was a very giving person to not only his family and friends, but also the community of Fall Creek.

He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church and the American Legion of Fall Creek.

Gerry his survived by his wife Sharyn of nearly 60 years of Fall Creek; one sister Kathryn Buckwheat of Edna, MN; a nephew Mark; niece Jan; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Marie Hartwich, a brother-in-law Joseph Buckwheat, mother and father-in-law Theodore W and Adella L (Wathke) Welke, a brother-in law Theodore Welke, sister-in-law Lorraine Welke and a nephew Ted Welke.

Funeral services for Gerry will be held 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, February 28 at St Paul's Lutheran Church, Fall Creek with Pastor Brendan G. Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Internment will be held at a later date with full Military Rites in Trinty Cemetery, Fall Creek.
