George Allen Carter

George Allen Carter, 87, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on February 4, 2026.

George was born on March 20, 1938, in Eau Claire. He graduated from Central High School in Eau Claire in 1958. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Gretchen Gutsch, and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

George worked as a carpenter for most of his life, taking great pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and creating artwork. Always up for an adventure, George was game for just about anything. He was truly a people person who never met a stranger, and his warm spirit and friendly nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gretchen; his son, Jeff; his daughter, Jodi; his brother, David Carter; sister-in-law, Jane Carter; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Lillian Carter, and his brothers, Calvin and Wayne, all of Eau Claire.

Private services will be held at a later date.
