Gene David Dahlheimer

Gene D. Dahlheimer, 94, of Altoona, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at his home on Lake Altoona. Gene was born on January 24, 1932 to Edward Dahlheimer and Mimi (Beltrand) Dahlheimer in Rogers, Minnesota. Gene worked on the family farm after schooling. 

Feeling the need to serve his country, Gene enlisted in the United States Army, and attended Ranger School. He served his country in the Korean War, making two (2) combat parachute jumps behind enemy lines during his tour. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Gene met the love of his life, Kem Sather. They were married on October 10, 1959 and moved to the Eau Claire area. Gene worked for Fehr Concrete for many years until he opened his own exposed aggregate concrete business, Dahlheimer Concrete, in Eau Claire. He sold that business in the early 1990s and retired to his cabin in Herbster, Wisconsin, during the spring, summer and fall months. Gene was a devoted husband, father, godfather, sportsman and handyman who could fix anything and who had the ability to make everyone laugh.

Gene is survived by his son, David Dahlheimer; Godson Steven Gibbs (Pam); his quasi-grandchildren Marissa and Reid Gibbs; the rest of the Gibbs family; his brother-in-law Kenneth Salo; and two nieces, Leann and Sue Salo. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mimi Dahlheimer, his wife Kem Dahlheimer, his brother John Dahlheimer, his sister Marilyn Salo, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Odin and Jerry Sather. 

Services will be held on April 25, 2026 at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
