Frederick (Butch) Button, Eau Claire, Wl, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026 with his family by his side.

He was born on January 11, 1940 to Frederick and Florence (Brown) Button. He was united in marriage to Karen Hotchkiss on July 23, 1960, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wl and celebrated 55 years of marriage before Karen's passing in 2016. Butch worked at Phoenix Steel/PDM Bridge for 38 years where he loved the work that he did.

He was gifted with craftsmanship and spent many years building and repairing homes, landscaping gardens, and serving his church. He was an avid fisherman at his lakefront home for many years, and he loved to travel to Canada for the pride of catching his walleyes. In his later years, he loved taking care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with adventures and telling his famous bear stories. He will be dearly missed.
Butch is survived by his children, Gene (Molly) Button of Waunakee, WI, Penny (Jeff)
Webber, of Osseo, WI, Don (Shelley) Button of Fall Creek, Wl, and Tony (Cathy) Button of Hayward, WI. Two sisters, Patsy (Jim) Lauterbach of Eau Claire, Wl and Joan (Bob) Schilling of Wales, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James (Pat) Button, Richard (Barb) Button, and great-granddaughter, Joan Gilles.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dove Osseo Assisted Living and his hospice nurse, Taylor Iverson, for enabling Butch to live independently until the time of his passing.
