Elaine Mae Krause, 101 of Eau Claire, WI, passed away at Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living early in the morning on March 10,2026.
She was born on July 16, 1924 to Frank and Gertrude (Dehnke) Kuehn in township of Lincoln, Eau Claire County. Elaine attended Russel Corners school near Augusta, WI through the 8th grade. As the oldest of 7 children, Elaine was tasked with helping care for her younger siblings. She married Harold Krause on September 2,1951, after having met him at Fourniers Ballroom.
Elaine did house cleaning for several families for many years, along with being a remarkable cook and an immaculate housekeeper.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and active in Church functions and volunteering for about 70 years. She was also a past member of the Moose Lodge in Eau Claire.
Elaine is survived by her son Larry (LaVonne), Grandchildren: Cory Krause and his wife Katy, Cassandra Krause and her husband Pierre Rideau. Great Grandchildren: Kinleigh and Kade Krause, Eloise and Jacques Rideau. Sister, Grace Steinke and sister-in-law Mary (Dick) Riley, nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harvey Kuehn, Charles (Donna, Arlene) Kuehn, Franklin (Nathlie) Kuehn, Melvin Kuehn and sister Jane Baldwin.
The family would like to acknowledge Elaine's sister, Grace Steinke for her lifelong compassion and friendship! The care Elaine received from aids and staff at Grace Willowbrook was outstanding.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Ave., Eau Claire with Pastor Christine Emerson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Trinity Cemetery, Fall Creek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54701 or a charity of your choice.
