Donald Pounds

Donald Wayne Pounds, age 79, of Holcombe, WI died in the loving presence of family at home on February 16, 2025. Don was born August 21, 1945 in Houston, Texas to parents Hilliard and Lula Lee Pounds. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Pounds, and his two children, Charlotte Eckenroth and Derek Pounds.

Don's life was defined by both work and leisure. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Don leveraged his mechanical abilities and love of technology during his service. His passions and skills developed into a career in the computer industry that spanned 35 plus years and evolved from computer maintenance to Hardware Support Engineer, Software Support Analyst, Marketing Product Support, and finally Product Support Planning Engineer. He worked first for Control Data, then Cray Research, finally retiring from Silicon Graphics, Inc. in 2003. His strong work ethic defined much of his life.

Post retirement, Don and his wife Judy traveled the United States in their motorhome for seven years, visiting family and making many friends along the way before settling in Holcombe.

Don will be remembered as an epic storyteller and conversationalist, one who loved life, and a good friend to many.

In lieu of a funeral, family and friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories or express their wishes below.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at Bruce Village Park, 525 W. Arthur Ave., Bruce, WI 54819 on Saturday, June 7th, from 2:00-4:00 pm.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.
