Deborah Anne Kortness

Deborah "Beaver" Anne Kortness, from Eau Claire, WI, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026 at the age of 65.

Debe lived life to the fullest, enjoying each day her way. She loved helping others, spending her life giving back through her nursing career, but also by just bringing a smile to the faces of everyone she met. Debe enjoyed the outdoors and spent the last few years of her life traveling and camping, living life exactly how she envisioned her retirement.

Debe is survived by her son, Michael (Jessica) Kortness of Alaska; nephew, Joseph Jr (Amanda)

Brummond of Eau Claire; niece, Charlene Layton of Richland Center; her great-nephews and great-niece, Thomas and Marcus Brummond, James, and Kaila Layton; sister, Sue Staples of La Crosse; nephew, Kyle Staples of La Crosse; traveling K9 partner, LucyLu; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Caroline Kortness; her sister, Kari Sorrels; her brother-in-law, Bruce Staples; her niece, Kristi Brummond; and her beloved K9 Pudge.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Eau Claire, WI; family will share more information on the celebration on social media.
