Debby Jean Cowell

Debby Jean (Klopp) Cowell born July 23, 1956, died surrounded by loved ones at home on June 13, 2026. She was born in Eau Claire, WI to Gloria Yvonne (Christenson) Klopp and Everett Alger Klopp.

She is survived by her three children: Dan Hawkins (Melissa), Nikki Oliver (Angela), and Brandon Hawkins (Laura); her siblings: Janie Wilken, Rick Klopp, and Pam Mathews (Mike); grandchildren: Mariah, McKenna, Alexa, Allie, Isaiah, Elijah, Judah, Noah, Serena, Linnea, Jonah; foster children; step grandchildren; and nieces. She is preceded in death by both of her parents.

Deb had a great love of animals, especially her cat Niko who was by her side until she passed. Deb had a contagious smile and laugh. She loved sitting with a cup of piping hot coffee and making those around her laugh from her stories and quick wit. She thought of others before she thought of herself and never looked to be the center of attention. She graduated from North High School in 1974. She opened her home and heart to foster care for more than 25 years. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing her children to sleep when they were little with songs she learned from Camp Manitou. Her skills as a cake and ice cream mixer will remain unmatched. She loved crosswords and other mind puzzles.

Deb is deeply missed by everybody who knew her. A celebration of life will be at Stokes Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona on Thursday, June 25, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
