Oct 3, 1947 — Sep 21, 2026

David LaVerne Steinke, 78, of Cadott, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

David was born October 3, 1947, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Ted and Mary Jane "Janie" (Betz) Steinke.

In 1965, David graduated from Washington Park High School in Racine, Wisconsin. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. After his time in the Air Force, David worked for Twin Disc in Racine for 24 years. On September 10, 1977, he married Sally Teigen.

In 1979, David and Sally started Muskies Inc. of Southeast Wisconsin. In 1980, David went on to win Paul's Pro-Am Tournament, taking home a boat, motor and trailer.

In 1983, David and Sally moved to Rock Falls, Wisconsin, where they spent 31 years as owners of the Hide-A-While Bar. After selling the bar, they moved to Holcombe, where they were able to spend time on the water and David could enjoy his love of the outdoors. In 2021, David and Sally moved to the Town of Lafayette.

David was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, woodworking, playing cribbage, cutting wood and traveling. He also spent endless time with his beloved dog and best friend, Snoopy.

David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally; daughters, Jackie Steinke-Harris and Lori Teigen (Mike Dusso); son, Jason (Danielle Laehn); grandson, Kyle Marrero; sister, Sue (Rod) Cole; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Peggy (Jerry) Simonson, Jim (Jacqie) Teigen, Tammy (Chipper) Kopp, Jeff (Wendy) Teigen and Dan Teigen.
