January 31, 1936 — November 22, 2025

David J. Seyfert, age 89, of Eagle River, WI, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Wells Nature View in Marshfield, WI.

A celebration of life will be planned for the spring of 2026. The time, place & date are yet to be determined.

David was born on January 31, 1936, the son of Wallace E. Seyfert and Helen Leotta (Doherty) Seyfert of Eagle River, WI. He also graduated from Eagle River High School, WI in 1954.

After graduating high school, David enlisted in the US Air Force. He was first stationed in Anchorage, AK, then was transferred to Great Falls, MT. David served in the Air Force in Airborne Navigational Repair from January 1955 through February of 1959. While he was stationed in Great Falls, MT, he met the "love of his life," Darlene (Ryan) Seyfert. They met while she was working as a car hop at her parent's restaurant, "Ryan's A&W Root Beer Stand". It didn't take David very long to decide, "she was THE ONE"! They courted for 6 months and were then united in marriage on November 1, 1957. They welcomed their first child, JoAnn in 1958. They lived in Great Falls until David finished his enlistment in February of 1959. After leaving the Air Force, the family moved back to his hometown of Eagle River, WI. David started a TV repair shop in his garage and also started his career with GTE Telephone Company where he worked until his retirement. David's family grew fast. He and Darlene had seven children plus one bonus child of whom he is lovingly survived by. His children are JoAnn Seyfert (WI), Melvyn (Glenda) Seyfert (AR), Jerry (Denise) Seyfert (TX), Marie (Mark) Heintz (WI), Thomas (Kristin) Seyfert (WI), Todd (Deborah) Seyfert (MN), Kristine (Mark) Thompson (WI) and bonus child Joshaua (Stephanie) Seyfert (WI).
David is further survived by his only sister, Mary "Cookie" (James) Ritzer (WI), 28 grandchildren including their spouses, and 16 great grandchildren as well as many nieces & nephews and several other family and friends.

David is preceded in death by the love of his life, Darlene Seyfert, his brothers Carl Fleischner (MI), Jack & (wife Betty) Seyfert (WI), his parents Wallace & Helen Leotta Seyfert along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.

Throughout David's career, he was a member in several service organizations and was dedicated to each of them. He loved helping people.

In David's spare time he enjoyed working in the outdoors, he hunted almost every kind of animal in which he had several mounts made, fishing trips to Canada, played dart ball for several years, in his younger adult years David enjoyed curling, he and Darlene hosted many wild game feeds throughout the years, they enjoyed going to breakfast most mornings to catch up on all of the latest gossip with friends at their favorite restaurant, enjoyed Friday fish fry's and we can't forget about watching the Packers, whether at the stadium or on TV didn't make a difference. They were huge fans!! Spending time with family and friends was very important!

After retirement David started a landscaping business to keep himself busy and continued with this business until he was in his mid to late seventies. He enjoyed working in the outdoors.

He decided it was time to move back to his old homestead in Eagle River and build his dream log cabin home. He and his sons did everything except put the logs in place. It took a couple years or so to finish the cabin, but it was definitely worth the wait. David and Darlene moved in before everything was finished. The house was located on the Chain of Lakes with the most breathtaking view from the kitchen bay window, which was David's favorite spot to sit and watch all the wildlife!

One of David's favorite memories was what he called "The Hunt of his Life". He and three of his sons took a trip out west to elk hunt. Every one of them got their trophy elk, and they were beautiful animals! Spending that time with his sons was one of the highlights of his life.

Anyone who knew David will miss his unforgettable laugh, for him being the life of any gathering, his favorite saying..."UFFDA". He had so many amazing qualities it would take forever to name them all. He will be dearly missed and will always live in the hearts of everyone who ever met or loved him! See you later Dad!
