Daniel Damico

July 10, 1957 — September 24, 2025

Daniel T. Damico was born on July 10, 1957, at a hospital on a NATO base in Bitburg, Germany, to Jimmy and June (Jerry) Damico. His father was in the Army. Danny passed away on September 24, 2025, at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

He suffered from cerebral palsy and was homeschooled until 1968, when he began attending the Day Development program for two years. Afterward, he attended Turtle Lake School, where he graduated. He then returned to the Day Development workshop, where he worked five days a week until the age of 62, after which he attended Adventure three to four days a week.

Danny lived with his family until he was 38, after which he moved into a group home. When his parents began traveling in a motor home, he was able to join them on trips, including visits to the West Coast to see friends and relatives. He also later traveled to the East Coast and spent many winters in Texas, staying for one to three months at a time. He enjoyed making short visits to relatives in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Danny loved fishing-whether in a boat, on a pontoon, or out on the ice. He attended many family gatherings at Little Dummy Lake and celebrated holidays at his grandparents' home. Thanks to my sister Peg and her family, in recent years he was still able to get out and enjoy activities.

He is survived by his mother June and sister Judith Damico. He has nieces Holly Burgos (Witte) and Melody Witte. He has nephews Jimmy Madden, Joseph (Amanda) Witte and Troy (Melissa) Witte. He has two great nephews Jaxson and Grayson Witte. He also has one great niece Octavia Burgos and many cousins on the Damico and Jerry's side. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Ralph and Ione Jerry, Gloria Gunderson, Robert Jerry, Peg Thompson and Nick Jerry.

He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Damico, his grandparents Sam and Louise Damico, Clifford and Alice Jerry, his aunts Ruth Santella, Virginia Damico, Shirley Pickar, Sharon Jerry, his uncles Felix Santella, Ernie Huebner, Raymond Gunderson, Robert Thompson and Tim Jerry.

I want to thank all his care givers, members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, friends and relatives who made his life more enjoyable.

The Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The Visitation will be held from 10-11am and the Memorial Service will be at 11am on November 8ᵗʰ, 2025. (The address for Redeemer Lutheran Church is 520 E. Orchard Beach Lane, Rice Lake, Wisconsin 54868).
