Bessie Marie Lauer

Bessie M. (Tichy) Lauer, 97, of Eau Claire, WI, went home to her eternal rest with the Lord, Saturday July 4th, 2026.

She was born and raised on the family farm in Jim Falls WI on April 8th,1929 to Anton and Mary (Prosecky) Tichy.

Bessie attended school in Jim Falls, and then Chippewa Falls High School. She married Earl Lauer October 29th,1945 and they were married for 49 years before Earl passed in 1995. Bessie and Earl lived in Chippewa Falls WI where Bessie worked as a leather cutter for Mason Shoe. She became a mother to her only son, Michael, in 1950 and became a full-time housewife. Bessie was a talented seamstress, she sewed all the dance costumes for the local dance studio, made clothes for family and quilts for all her grandchildren. Bessie has always been very hardworking, she loved to travel, shop, garden, cook, bake and play cards. She enjoyed hosting tea parties, card parties and holiday gatherings in her home. Bessie and Earl moved to Eau Claire in 1960 when Earl became an insurance agent for Sentry Insurance and then started Lauer Insurance Agency in 1963. Bessie helped her husband with his insurance business that operated out of their home in Eau Claire, WI. She was a dedicated volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital HSHS and the Red Cross in Eau Claire, WI for over 25 years.

Bessie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), soon to be great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend to many people. Her twinkly eyes, laughter and sharp wit will be missed by all.

Bessie is survived by her grandchildren Tricia (Benjamin) McCune of Eau Claire, Rebecca (John) Flaten of Altoona, Mary (Michael) Hanson of Elk Mound, David Lauer of Eau Claire; great-grandchildren Mollie (Bryce) Dunio, Madisen &, Simeon McCune, Andrew & Alex Flaten, Lindi & Erek Hanson; Great-great grandbaby Dunio; Sister-in-law Marlene Tichy; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Lauer; son, Michael Lauer; daughter-in-law, Linda (Carey) Lauer; sisters, Agnes (Earl) Popple and Esther (Duane) Kurth; brother Emil Tichy; in-laws, Math and Clara Lauer, brothers & sisters in-law; Loretta & Clayborne Jankoski, Lilian & Herman Seidling, Joe Lauer, Bertha & Ed Eckert, Elaine & Robert Northrup, Eleanor & Leonard Roehling, Norbert Lauer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 1712 Highland Ave, Eau Claire with Fr. Francis Thadathil officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. in Fr. Klink Hall until time of service. Entombment will take place at Chapel of the Resurrection at Calvary Cemetery.
