Belinda Kaye Zehner

August 28, 1960 — May 20, 2026

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Belinda Zehner. Belinda passed away during the evening hours on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at Dove Healthcare South- Eau Claire.

Belinda was born on August 28th, 1960, to Robert and Vivonna Weggen of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Belinda grew up on the south side of Eau Claire with her brother, Robert Jr, and her two sisters, Brenda and Rebecca. Growing up, Belinda and her family would go on frequent camping trips and aside from camping, she would always be tagging along with her sisters and friends.

Belinda loved dogs. She brought home a puppy much against the approval of her parents, and named her puppy Missy. Missy became a beloved member of the Weggen family and would come along on every camping trip.

Years later, Belinda met her beloved husband, Steve Zehner. Steve and Belinda were married on June 7th, 1980, and soon after, purchased their first home in Eau Claire, where they raised their two daughters, Jennifer and Samantha.

In February 1990, Belinda co-founded Tender Hearts, a non-profit organization for families to gather together for support and do fun family activities specifically for children born with heart defects. Tender Hearts was near and dear to Belinda as Samantha was born with a congenital heart defect.

Belinda's family was everything to her. She spent her time cooking and baking. She also loved to make clothes and Halloween costumes for Jennifer and Samantha. When Belinda wasn't busy with that, she would be planning fun activities like Como Zoo, going to parks, movie theaters, Fairfax pool or shopping. She loved taking Jennifer and Samantha to the Woodbury Outlet Mall. Belinda loved great shopping deals. After sending the girls off to school, she would drive to Woodbury to go to Sara Lee and stock up on sheet cakes and danishes. She would then make sure she would be home and unload the Sara Lee goodies before the girls got home from school.

Belinda worked at Bakers Dozen with Rebecca and their friend, Diane. She then went to CVTC for nursing and worked for Gundersen Lutheran Home Health in Alma as well as Birth to Three. She later worked for Hutchinson Technology in Eau Claire again with Rebecca.

One of Belinda's greatest joys in life was becoming a Grandma to Evan, Nevaeh and Jordyn. She loved watching them grow up and spoiled them as much as she could.

Some of Belinda's favorite memories prior to 2020 when her strokes started, was going to see her favorite musician, Ozzy Osbourne with Jennifer in 2017. Then in 2018, Belinda went with Jennifer and Samantha to attempt an escape room (they didn't escape in time) and tour Paisley Park.

Belinda is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Phil) Nitek and Samantha (Andy) Nelson; grandchildren, Evan Nitek (Miranda), Nevaeh Nitek and Jordyn Nelson; sisters, Brenda (Woody) Woodbeck, and Rebecca (Jim) Brott, Mother-in-Law Marlys Zehner, Brother-in-Law Larry (Wendy) Zehner, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Belinda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve, her parents, Vi and Robert Weggen, brother, Robert Weggen Jr, Father-in-Law Raymond Zehner and Sister-in-Law, Janis Zehner.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dove Healthcare South- Eau Claire for the exceptional care given to Belinda while she was in their care.

In accordance with Belinda's wishes, no services will be held.
