Aune Armeta Leppala

Aune Armeta Leppala, age 86, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2026, after a long battle with dementia.

Aune was born in July of 1939 in Virginia, MN. Went to school from kindergarten through her senior year in Buhl, MN. She graduated from Virginia Junior College in 1958. She held several jobs early in her career but retired from the St. Louis County Court System in Hibbing, MN in 1996.

Aune is survived by her daughter, LaRae (Leppala) Koopman (Clark Cramer); her son, James Pickett (Suzy); her stepson, Larry Leppala; and her stepdaughter, Joanne Leppala. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, the Mattonen family (Wilma, Diane, Donna, and Donald), classmates, and many cherished friends she considered family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Olga Hautala. Sister Aili (Hautala) Whelan, Brothers Illmar, Arthur and Arne.

Aune loved painting, fishing and gardening. She was very artistic and created many beautiful paintings and other items over the years. She was the best Mom and just a beautiful human being and a friend to many.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered but the Lord needed another angel and now she is at peace and pain free.

First one will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at the:

VFW, 311 84th St., Bloomington, MN 55420.

Light lunch will be served.

Second one will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the:

American Legion, 227 Chestnut St. #229, Virginia, MN 55792.

Light lunch will be served.
